Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs)

Agricultural biotechnology enables scientist to alter the DNA of plants and animals to produce desired results. Farmers are able to produce crops that have built in pesticides eliminating the use of harmful chemicals. Farmer have increase their income due to increased productivity of crops.


The FDA allows manufactures to conduct independent studies on genetically alter foods to ensure that they are safe for public consumption. There are three government agencies that regulate biotechnology; The USDA, FDA, and EPA. Each has an independent role in ensuring biotechnology does not harm humans, the environment, and plants and animals.

Food safety is the disciplined handling, preparation, and storage of food in ways that prevent foodborne illness. According to healthypeople.gov2020, each year foodborne illnesses sicken 48 million Americans (approximately 17% of people in the United States) and lead to 128,000 hospitalizations and 3,000 deaths.

This site sells equipment for a variety of physical activities from aerobics to weightlifting and boxing to MMA. Another great feature that this site provides is the workout section. This area has workout routines, logs, a workout generator for amateurs  and professionals.

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Information Center provides a multitude of information on nutrition. It has the current dietary guidelines and information on food misinformation. One of the most important sections is dietary information for people with various health conditions such as AIDS/ HIV, Cancer, and osteoporosis to name a few. Another section that I think will be very helpful, covers dietary supplements and the use of herbal supplements like St. John's wort and garlic.

This is also helpful in that it provides personalized meal plans and your meal plans will not include any food items that you do not like. Mayoclinic.org is an excellent website for wellness. This website has information for children, teens, adults, and the elderly. It also covers topics such as, weight loss, quitting smoking, and stress management among other topics.
